The family of PULSE™ Resins from Trinseo is one lightweighting solution that enables manufacturers to meet increased fuel efficiency requirements, reduce costs, and assist in making a positive environmental impact. One example is PULSE™ GX50 Resin, which is specially blended for use in unpainted applications such as interior panels. Along with eliminating the need for painted parts and requiring fewer production steps, this automotive resin offers proprietary UV stabilizing technology and a four percent decrease in density. It also reduces part costs by up to 50 percent, according to auto manufacturers and their suppliers.


The lift-gate is another application where Trinseo automotive resins deliver sought-after properties that enable lightweighting: stiffness, dimensional stability, and thermal resistance. By replacing steel and aluminum with ENLITE™ Structural Polymers – Trinseo’s polypropylene long glass fiber or glass fiber alloy materials – in a complex lift-gate, manufacturers can achieve up to a 10 percent weight reduction and the option to recycle the parts.
