Safety Performance

Three key metrics — safety incidents, incidents of loss of primary containment, and process safety incidents — are part of Trinseo’s targets each year, as we strive to continually improve our environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) and Responsible Care® performance.

Recordable injuries include work-related injuries or illness of a worker that results in medical treatment beyond first aid, loss of consciousness, restricted work, or missed days of work as directed by a physician.

Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) refers to spills and leaks of any material (excluding water) of greater than 100 pounds.

Process Safety Incidents (PSI) are classified as such by the American Chemistry Council if a release from the process causes serious injury, a threat to environment, or significant equipment damage.

In the case a safety incident should occur, Trinseo conducts a thorough and methodical root- cause investigation, takes corrective action to prevent or substantially reduce the possibility of recurrence, and shares learnings globally to enhance our performance. This approach, combined with our comprehensive set of company standards, management systems, and an audit program, has enabled Trinseo to consistently outperform the industry in these areas.
