Trinseo Receives DKG Product Award 2015 for S-SBR

Advanced Rubber Technology Enables Lower Rolling Resistance in Tires

HORGEN, Switzerland - Monday, June 29, 2015

Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), the global materials company and manufacturer of plastics, latex and rubber, was awarded the DKG Product Award 2015 for its multi-functionalized oil-extended solution styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR). Presented by the German Rubber Society (Deutsche Kautschuk-Gesellschaft - DKG), a leading advocate for rubber and elastomeric material knowledge-sharing, the award recognizes outstanding products and developments in the field of elastomer and upstream products.

Used in high performance tires, functionalized S-SBR is manufactured by Trinseo in Schkopau, Germany, and offers tire producers excellent rolling resistance, wet grip and abrasion resistance for more balanced tire properties that better meet stringent tire-labelling requirements and consumer demands. The new developed multi-functionalized synthetic rubber presents an immense opportunity for improved sustainability in tires, offering a significant potential for reducing the rolling resistance of passenger car tires and therefore the world's CO2 emissions.

The DKG Product Award 2015 celebrates this product as an outstanding achievement in rubber innovation and the industry as a whole. Prizes were awarded on June 29, 2015 during the opening ceremony for the German Rubber Conference DKT 2015 / International Rubber Conference IRC 2015.

"We are honored to receive this award, which reflects not only Trinseo's leadership in high-performance materials but also its commitment to producing breakthrough products that allow our customers to meet their goals. The new multi-functionalized S-SBR, along with its benefits to tire manufacturers and end consumers, is a direct result of this dedication and drive for innovation," says Francesca Reverberi, global business director, Synthetic Rubber. "Winning the DKG Product Award 2015 shows that Trinseo is advancing in the right direction with this strategic business. My thanks and congratulations to all our staff members at Trinseo who are involved in S-SBR for their hard work and dedication."
