Trinseo ABS and PCR Containing Resins in the Spotlight at InterPlas Thailand

Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber, showcased its product portfolio of high performance rigid and soft-touch plastics at the InterPlas Thailand 2019 in Bangkok from June 19-22.

Dozens of visitors from Thailand and countries such as China, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, and Taiwan visited the Trinseo booth, and discussed their material challenges with our onsite technical and sales staff.

MAGNUM™ ABS Resins are a preferred material for coloring and profile & extrusion applications due to it being manufactured through mass polymerization technology. This method features a continuous process which makes the resins more advanced and enables them to bring significant benefits such as:

  • Cost savings on coloring;
  • Widened processing windows due to thermal and processing stability;
  • High-end aesthetics due to their low gloss and low gel properties;
  • Long-lasting color quality through high UV light resistance;
  • Shorter pre-drying times; and
  • Improved machine utilization.

It is an unrivalled material that is ideal for coloring (both compounding & Masterbatch). MAGNUM™ ABS now comes with a food contact grade. Specific migration test results have verified that the high purity of MAGNUM™ A233 resins meets EU and Chinese food contact regulatory requirements on ABS, and migration requirements in relevant regulations.

Trinseo’s Post-consumer Recycled (PCR) Containing Resins made its debut at InterPlas. Supporting the eco-friendly trend with proven results, the new material has been well-received by industry professionals.

Trinseo engaged Thinkstep, a sustainability software and consulting company based in Germany, to perform lifecycle analysis tests, which compared PCR containing products against virgin materials to estimate the difference in carbon dioxide emissions, water usage, and energy consumption. In all cases, the PCR containing resins had a reduced environmental impact.
