Trinseo’s SPRINTAN™ 918S S-SBR Recognized by European Rubber Journal

We are proud to announce that Trinseo’s highly functionalized SPRINTANTM 918S Solution-Styrene Butadiene Rubber (S-SBR) synthetic rubber was awarded second position in the Elastomers for Sustainability initiative of the European Rubber Journal - a world leading publication specializing in the global tire and rubber industries. Twenty short-listed submissions were judged by a panel of industry experts on several aspects, from commercial potential to contribution to sustainability.

SPRINTANTM 918S, as part of our family of S-SBR synthetic rubber materials especially developed for the tire industry, is proven to significantly reduce rolling resistance while at the same time improving performance properties related to tire wear and wet-grip. Due to its unique combination of characteristics, SPRINTANTM 918S is especially suitable for use in the production of high-performance, energy-efficient tires, including tires for electrical vehicles. With 90% of the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions of a tire stemming from its use-phase, SPRINTANTM 918S enables significant environmental benefits through reduced energy consumption and emissions, as illustrated below.
