Embarking on a Transformation Journey & Welcoming Our New Colleagues

Over the course of this past year we have learned a lot — as a company and a society — about our capacity to adapt to change and the valuable growth that can be born from navigating change together. At Trinseo, we have taken these lessons to heart and are applying them to our future outlook. So, on the heels of our 10th anniversary as an independent company, we are setting forth on an intentional journey to transform our company into an advanced specialty and sustainable solutions provider.

Our Transformation Journey
We have set this vision of change for ourselves so that we may better serve our customers and our value chain partners, and also remain competitive on the global marketplace in the years to come. In order to be successful in these efforts, we are committing to making thoughtful investments in M&A, grounding ourselves with the highest standards of business excellence, and reframing our culture to support the forthcoming changes we’re striving to implement.

Throughout this journey, our success will be defined by how well we can differentiate our innovative and sustainable products, and the value that we create by working with our customers to solve for their problems and help them reach their sustainability goals. There is boundless potential awaiting our company as we work to achieve our vision, and I’m thrilled to be making meaningful movement toward that future.

Taking the First Step
In our first major step forward in this journey, we recently finalized an exciting acquisition of Arkema’s PMMA business, a proven and trusted supplier of high-quality resins and acrylic sheet and a global leader in PMMA and MMA technology. This strategic acquisition serves as a catalyst for our transformation into a higher-margin, less-cyclical solutions provider, and the complementary nature of the transaction will drive growth opportunities for our Engineered Materials business globally. The PMMA business will enhance our ability to provide solutions to customers in profitable end markets including automotive, building and construction, and medical, and in fast-growing geographies.

With this acquisition, we are thrilled to expand our Trinseo family and welcome our new colleagues to join us in embarking on our transformational journey. Our employees have always served as the foundation for our success, and these new additions to our team will bring strong customer relationships, decades of technical and market expertise, and an infusion of innovation into our company.

As we settle into our integration process, which will unfold over the next 1-2 years, I’m heartened by the enthusiasm of all our employees — new and tenured— and how wholeheartedly they have embraced our transformation vision. I’m incredibly excited for the future we have mapped out and the possibilities it presents for our company, our employees and our customers.
