What are the proper annealing conditions?

Annealing PLEXIGLAS® sheet should not result in the release of harmful concentrations of vapors and gases under the annealing conditions recommended.

What types of adhesives are used with PLEXIGLAS® sheet?

To get good performance with adhesives for PLEXIGLAS® sheet you must follow the directions closely.

What are the requirements for cold bending PLEXIGLAS® sheet?

PLEXIGLAS® sheet can be cold formed (bent at room temperature) in a smooth arc and held to a radius by forcing the material into a curved channel support. The recommended radius of curvature should be a value greater than 180 times the thickness of the sheet for PLEXIGLAS® G sheet, and 300 times the thickness for PLEXIGLAS® MC sheet.

How to troubleshoot chipping and melting on circular saws?

Correct techniques to correct chipping and melting are available upon request. Please contact your representative for more information.

How to polish drilled holes?

A properly drilled hole has a smooth semi-matte finish that can be brought to a high polish.

  • A wood or metal rod approximately 1/8 inch smaller in diameter than the drilled hole is split to a depth equal to the depth of the hole plus 1/2 inch and mounted in a drill press.
  • If the inner surface of the hole is rough, steel wool or strips of emery cloth or sandpaper are wound around rod and gripped in the slot.
  • When the inner surface is smooth, a good grade of flannel is wound around the rod and the compounds for buffing are applied.

How to clean PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet?

We recommend washing PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet with a mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water solution. Use a clean soft cloth or sponge and as much solution as possible. Rinse well. Dry by blotting with a damp cloth or chamois.

Do not use: window cleaning fluids, scouring compounds, gritty cloths, leaded or ethyl gasolines or solvents such as alcohol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, etc.

To remove tar, grease, paint, etc., use a good grade of naphtha or kerosene. Users of these solvents should become familiar with their properties to handle them safely.

What specific paints are compatible with PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet?

We typically do not supply information on specific paints that are compatible with PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet but do suggest users of Trinseo sheet products to contact the listed paint manufacturers for their recommendations on paints and paint removers for their products.

What grades of PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet can be sterilized using ethylene oxide gas?

All grades of PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheet can be sterilized using ethylene oxide gas.

What are the optimum thermoforming temperatures for PLEXIGLAS® sheet?

For PLEXIGLAS® MC, T-Family, Q, SG, and SG PLUS the optimum thermoforming temperature is 325°F.


For PLEXIGLAS® G the optimum thermoforming temperature is 350°F.
