Taking the Next Step in GRI Reporting
This year’s Trinseo Sustainability Report was prepared in accordance with the core option of the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) standards and reflects our first full year of increasing our focus on sustainability and transparency with the adoption of the GRI framework for sustainability reporting. Using GRI standards has helped Trinseo to take a deeper and more holistic look at our material topics and related impacts, based on the priorities of our stakeholders. Through that analysis, we are setting a foundation to drive meaningful change across all areas of business.
Recognizing the value of collaboration and input from audiences who can help enhance our sustainability efforts, Trinseo engages with a variety of stakeholder groups throughout the year. Last year, Trinseo’s Sustainability Council met to learn more about the standards from the GRI organization and also began the process of identifying key stakeholders. These include:
The methods by which we engage with each group vary according to their needs and proximity, but Trinseo prioritizes transparency, accuracy, and purpose in its interactions with our key stakeholders.
Using key insights from stakeholder engagement and the Materiality Matrix, the Sustainability Council set out to create sustainability goals designed to improve performance around sustainability, determine steps that can be taken to solve a larger, global issue, and drive innovation. The goals we determined are:
