According to the Food Bank Singapore, large amounts of food are needed by charities and voluntary welfare organizations, and that one in 10 Singaporeans are food-insecure (i.e. lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food). In light of this, Trinseo Singapore made donations to the charity earlier this year, purchasing 50 Food Bundles containing rice, canned food, biscuits, milk, cooking oil, among other essentials. Eight staff members and their family also went the extra mile to help pack the bundles, like an assembly line in a plant, and then provided door-to-door deliveries to low-income families.
To the staff of Trinseo Singapore, it was a very rewarding three-hour experience seeing smiles on faces of people they had served. The contribution, however small, has made the world a better place. They are a reminder to constantly remind ourselves to try to reach out and help those people who are less fortunate.
