Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics and latex binders, will participate in the TAPPICon 2021 Conference from October 4 – 6. The conference, hosted by the 106-year-old Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), is North America’s premier industry association supporting the pulp, paper, and packaging industry.
The Trinseo Binders Paper & Board business has been supporting the global coated paper and paperboard industry for more than 70 years. The company pioneered the use of carboxylated latexes and is frequently tapped for its ability to develop solutions, fix problems, and deliver value.
Don Ventresca, Senior Technical Service and Development Specialist will present a paper on Wednesday, October 6 entitled Multi-Functional Barrier Coating Systems Created by Multi-Layer Curtain Coating.
The paper was co-authored by Ventresca and Greg Welsch, Global Innovation Leader, Paper, Board & Textile, and illustrates how Trinseo barrier chemistries enable multifunctional barrier performance with multi-layer curtain coating technology. The solutions-based approach enables the replacement of less sustainable barrier materials with coatings that provide a sustainable advantage and allow complete recyclability. The combination of product and application expertise in curtain coating highlights Trinseo’s expertise in board coating, a key growth area as customers explore packaging solutions.
Trinseo is a historic supporter and sustaining member of TAPPI. Greg Welsch is the Technical Program Chair for the Coating and Graphic Arts Division for TAPPICon 2021 and is a member of the Steering Team for the Coating and Graphic Arts Division. Mark Cranch, NA Technical Sales Leader, Paper & Board, is a member of the TAPPI Awards committee.
Trinseo is pleased to announce that Trinseo retiree, Femi Kotoye, PhD, will be recognized during the conference as a TAPPI Fellow for his significant contributions to the betterment of the industry.
