Trinseo is subject to a growing number of chemical control requirements globally, including the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act/Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act, which requires companies to provide information to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding the assessment of chemical risks so that unreasonable risks can be mitigated. Trinseo is also subject to extensive, evolving, and increasingly stringent environmental and safety laws and regulations around the world, and have implemented a comprehensive system for monitoring and complying with applicable industry standards and government regulations globally.
Trinseo recognizes that climate change has had and will continue to have significant impacts on our environment, particularly as it relates to extreme weather conditions, rising sea levels, and regulations limiting the emission of greenhouse gases. In some jurisdictions, such as Germany, we comply with extensive regulations required as a result of nationwide or local greenhouse gas targets and resource conservation requirements.
In recognition of the importance of sustainability, climate change, and corporate social responsibility, Trinseo has established a multidisciplinary Sustainability Council, made up of a cross-functional group of company leaders focused on sustainability, including the benefits and risks related to climate change and our corporate social responsibility programs.
