Trinseo's thermoplastic battery enclosure solution has been recognized by one of China's most respected engineering institutions, earning the "Innovative Thermoplastic Composite Battery Casing” award from Tongji University. The recognition affirms the technical strength and commercial relevance that Trinseo brings to the electric vehicle (EV) materials industry.
Trinseo's thermoplastic battery casing is designed as a high-performance alternative to conventional metal enclosures. Built using the Direct Long Fiber Thermoplastic (D-LFT) process, the solution delivers meaningful advantages for EV manufacturers, supporting lightweighting, performance and recyclability goals.
"Tongji University has deep influence across the EV engineering community, so this recognition means something beyond the award itself. It validates what our customers already experience—a material solution engineered to perform where it counts most," said Han Hendriks, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer.
This thermoplastic composite technology represents a broader growth platform for Trinseo, with potential applications extending well beyond EV battery casings. Its versatility enables use across multiple industries and components where lightweight, durable and sustainably advantaged¹ material solutions are increasingly in demand.
