Industry-leading publication highlights Trinseo’s Modifier A™ / NA Latex admixture and its role in supporting the long-term durability of one of North America’s most significant infrastructure projects.

Trinseo has earned a cover feature in the August issue of Concrete International, the flagship publication of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), for its contribution to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project through the use of Modifier A™ / NA Latex admixture in the bridge deck overlay. The cover story was co-authored by Mike Christy, Technical Service & Development Specialist at Trinseo, and Chuck Fifelski, a retired Trinseo technical expert with nearly four decades of experience in latex technology.

The article examines the use of latex-modified concrete (LMC) technology in the bridge deck overlay system and highlights how advanced materials can support long-term durability, reduced permeability and extended service life in demanding infrastructure applications.

Connecting Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, the Gordie Howe International Bridge is one of North America’s largest and most significant transportation infrastructure projects. The bridge is designed to enhance cross-border trade and mobility while serving as a critical transportation link between Canada and the United States.

Trinseo’s Modifier A™ / NA Latex admixture was incorporated into the bridge deck overlay system to help support long-term durability and performance under challenging service conditions. Its use reflects the importance of proven, high-performance materials in infrastructure projects where reliability, resilience and life-cycle value are essential.

"The Gordie Howe International Bridge project demonstrates the impact that can be achieved when material suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders work together to solve complex infrastructure challenges," said Mike Christy, Technical Service & Development Specialist. "This recognition highlights not only the performance of Modifier A™/NA Latex in LMC, but also the strong partnerships that helped bring the project to life."

Earning the cover of Concrete International underscores the role of Trinseo's materials science expertise in supporting critical infrastructure applications. The feature reflects the company's longstanding commitment to advancing technologies that help improve durability, extend service life and support the performance demands of modern infrastructure.

The August issue of Concrete International is available through the American Concrete Institute.
