Trinseo Marks Progress in 16th Annual Sustainability & CSR Report

July 1, 2026
Today, Trinseo published its 16th annual Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, Shining Through Uncertainty, covering fiscal year 2025.

The report details the Company's continued progress on its sustainability commitments despite challenging industry conditions, with a focus on innovation, operational resilience and the advancement of circular solutions across its specialty materials portfolio.

“Our focus at Trinseo remains consistent,” said Frank Bozich, Trinseo’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Sustainability continues to be a core pillar of our business strategy. Our Sustainability Goals guide decision-making and inform how we prioritize investments. I am proud of the work our teams continue to deliver and grateful for the ongoing trust of our customers, investors, partners and employees.”

The report demonstrates how Trinseo has embedded its sustainability priorities across the organization, guided by its Sustainability Goals. Having achieved many of its initial Sustainability Goals over the past year, seven of these goals were enhanced in 2025 in the categories of Climate Change, Supplier Responsibility and Responsible Operations. At the same time, the Company continues to work toward its Sustainable Product Portfolio and Sustainable Workforce targets.

Key updates to the goals include:

  • Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions: Trinseo’s emissions intensity reduction target was raised to 50% by 2035. As of 2025, Trinseo has achieved a 41% reduction from its 2017 baseline.
  • Renewable energy: After surpassing its initial target focused on non-fossil electric sources, Trinseo expanded its goal to source 30% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030. As of 2025, the Company's renewable electricity share stands at 28%.
  • Water Stewardship: Having met its previous freshwater intake target, Trinseo has broadened its water goal to encompass long-term resilience through site-level stewardship plans.

“I am encouraged by the progress our teams made in 2025 and appreciative of the disciplined, thoughtful way this work is being advanced,” said Han Hendriks, Trinseo’s Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer. “The efforts underway at Trinseo reflect a belief that steady progress, informed by collaboration and realism, remains essential even in uncertain times.”

The report also explores Trinseo’s ongoing work to advance innovation and strategic partnerships that extend the reach and impact of its technologies. In 2025, the Company continued to advance its mechanical, physical and chemical recycling capabilities. Notably, Trinseo’s  polymethyl methacrylate depolymerization demonstration facility in Rho, Italy, was critical to its ALTUGLAS™ R-LIFE™ acrylic resins being certified to meet ISO 14021 standards. Additionally, their acrylonitrile butadiene styrene dissolution pilot plant, which is located in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, has contributed to the advancement of recycled content-containing ABS solutions. Collaborations with Indaver and Lapo further demonstrate how shared expertise and infrastructure can accelerate progress toward circularity.

Trinseo’s FY2025 Sustainability and CSR Report was prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2021 Universal Standards, and it incorporates the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework. Trinseo also published a Core Impact Report to provide stakeholders with a holistic understanding of its value creation.
