Trinseo's Portfolio of Rigid & Soft Plastics for Medical Devices Received Well in China

Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber, showcased its product portfolio of high performance rigid and soft-touch plastics for medical devices at the China International Component Manufacturing and Design Show (ICMD) in Shanghai from May 14-17. Trinseo’s booth attracted visitors from Bangladesh, China, India, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and as far as the U.S. The exchange of technical information and application ideas have benefited both Trinseo and industrial professionals immensely.

Trinseo medical-grade rigid plastic materials include an array of different high performance resins: MAGNUM™ 8391 MED ABS Resins, STYRON™ 2678 MED PS Resins, CALIBRE™ PC Resins with unique attributes that cross markets, and CALIBRE™ MEGARAD™ PC Resins being an advanced material for devices requiring gamma or electron-beam irradiation. The Company’s soft plastics consist of the MEGOL™ family of TPS-SEBS compounds that offers the ideal combination of the elasticity, appearance, and haptics of rubber together with the low processing costs of thermoplastics; while RAPLAN™ TPS materials are an ideal substitute for PVC when halogen-free products are required.

Amy Wang, Trinseo’s Senior Technical Service and Development Engineer conducted a presentation Medical Plastic One-Stop Solution – Engineering Plastics and Elastomer from Trinseo at the technical forum at ICMD on May 15. Her presentation attracted an attendance of more than 200 people. Some of the attendees came to the Trinseo booth after the presentation to explore more on how the Company’s soft plastics help solve their material challenges.
