Safety at Trinseo

Safety

Safety is among our highest priorities at Trinseo.

It is our duty to care for our colleagues, as well as the environment and the communities where we operate. Our training programs are continuously updated to align with best practices, global standards and industry trends to maintain comprehensive opportunities for Environment, Health, & Safety (EH&S) development.

Our EH&S strategy is focused on reducing injury rates at our facilities. Our management system is rooted in Responsible Care® principles that enable us to align with and exceed industry-wide safety requirements. We maintain a culture of rigorous investigation, corrective action, and continuous improvement to deliver our world-class set of internal policies, processes, and procedures.

Progress on Our Safety Goal

In 2023, Trinseo experienced an incident rate of 0.30, which represents injuries and illnesses per 200,000 hours worked. Trinseo is among the top echelon for safety, as this is significantly less than the manufacturing industry average of 3.2 and the American Chemistry Council (ACC) rate of 0.74. To keep safety top of mind, we reimagined our internal safety campaign to deliver meaningful real-life Trinseo case studies to help expand safety awareness at our facilities.

Occupational, Health & Safety Training

Each of our facilities develops and implements a detailed program that establishes the training requirements for each role at the site. In 2023, we implemented two new trainings: Fall Prevention and Line of Fire. We encourage our employees to use the “Line of Fire” safety awareness technique to anticipate potential hazards.

Safety Management System

Our integrated management system is certified at the corporate level by the ACC Responsible Care Management System® and an external audit certification process. Additionally, each of our facilities is a member of the comparable Responsible Care® organization in their respective country.
