Trinseo Releases Impressive EH&S Performance Results for 2023

34 Trinseo teams attained zero injuries /illnesses, spills and process safety incidents

Wayne, PA – Trinseo (NYSE: TSE) a specialty material solutions provider, today recognized employees globally for outstanding Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) performance for 2023 – placing Trinseo’s safety performance in the top tier of companies in the chemical industry.

In 2023, 34 Trinseo teams — encompassing 1,574 individual recipients —earned the prestigious “Triple Zero Award,” recognizing that their work groups had zero recordable injuries/illnesses (including employees and contractors), zero reportable spills and zero process safety incidents. Globally, 72 percent of eligible teams received Triple Zero recognition.

Trinseo believes in continuously improving EH&S performance with the goal to achieve zero injuries/illnesses, spills, and process safety incidents in all our facilities every year. EH&S and Responsible Care® are core values and strategic priorities for Trinseo. The Triple Zero Award program recognizes and appreciates the effort and discipline of manufacturing plant and lab teams that achieve incident-free operation over the calendar year.

There were many programs aimed at improving Trinseo’s safe work culture in 2023. Noteworthy initiatives included Line of Fire training, Pre-Task Analysis Program Enhancement, strengthening our near miss reporting, Top 10 Program(s) on Risk, and a sustained focus on improving safety awareness and behaviors through targeted programs such as Safety on Purpose, Office Safety and Safe Summer.

“I am once again proud and impressed with the amount of Triple Zero Awards that have been achieved this year. I congratulate all receiving plants and departments with obtaining this well-earned award for their hard work and efforts to keep everybody safe and minimize our impact on the environments we work and live in,” said Jos van den Brink, Global EH&S Director.

He continued, “We have been dedicated to understanding the cause of any incidents that did occur in 2023 and are using this knowledge to adapt our practices to prevent recurrence in any of our facilities going forward. We are committed to continuously improving and strive to have all our facilities reach the status of Triple Zero!”
