About The Program

The Program aims at advocating the use, and the recycling of polystyrene (PS), a sustainable and safe food packaging material through an alliance of manufacturers, restaurants, consumers, recycling associations and other stakeholders in Indonesia. This is realized by collaborating with all supporting organizations and stakeholders to achieve the best we can on a circular economy. Collection centers are locations where the PS foam waste is collected and processed for onward recycling.

Plastics have helped improve living standards, hygiene and nutrition around the world, especially in developing countries. But used plastics have become a global environmental challenge. Research has identified the most significant sources of unmanaged plastic waste, and key aspects of the solution. Replacing plastics in packaging and consumer products with alternative materials could raise environmental costs nearly fourfold.¹
